News
Eminem (Marshall Mathers) was released on $100,000 bail after pleading "not guilty" to charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon this past Wednesday (June 7) in Macomb County, Michigan, Circuit Court, just outside his hometown of Detroit.. He was released on the condition that he have no contact with the person he allegedly threatened with a gun, John Guerra, and that he steer clear of any guns or firearms.
Eminem's next appearance in court will be July 11, and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Macomb County Court, Bill Harding, told us what's next in the case. "The next stage in the criminal proceedings here will be what is known as a preliminary examination, in which the court will determine if there is sufficient evidence to hold Mr. Mathers for trial."
Mathers reportedly went to the Hot Rocks Cafe in suburban Detroit early this past Sunday (June 4) to check up on his wife, Kimberly Mathers, when he suspected her involvement with another man. She says that the man was just a friend. Eminen reportedly pulled a gun on the man, Guerra, and police were called, eventually arresting the rapper, his wife, and two other men.
Eminem pleaded guilty in an Oakland County, Michigan, court on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and brandishing a firearm in public yesterday (June 8) and was released on bond. This time Slim Shady's trouble came from a conflict with an associate of Insane Clown Posse. He is scheduled to appear in court July 7 for a preliminary hearing on these new charges. Eminem faces up to five years in jail for the concealed weapon charge and ninety days in jail for the brandishing a firearm in public charge.
Just nine hours before Eminem's run-in with his wife and her friend at Hot Rocks Cafe outside Detroit on Sunday (June 4), for which he was arrested, the rapper was allegedly involved in an incident with Douglas Dale, who police say is affiliated with rival music group the Insane Clown Posse. An ICP representative told us that Dale is not a member of the group, but confirmed he is associated with the band. The ICP representative declined further comment.
Dale allegedly confronted Eminem, calling him names and verbally abusing him. Eminem allegedly retaliated by yelling and brandishing a gun while getting out of his car. Police were notified.Oakland County Prosecuting Attorney Dave Gorcyca said that witnesses, including Dale, agree that while Eminem brandished the gun, he did not point it at anyone. Gorcyca added, "The charges reflect those undisputed facts."
Eminem and the Insane Clown Posse have been rivals for several years. On the track "Ken Kaniff (skit)" on his chart-topping The Marshall Mathers LP, Eminem takes aim at the Insane Clown Posse, implying that they participate in homosexual behavior.
Another Detroit native, Uncle Kracker, part of Kid Rock's posse and an artist in his own right, downplayed the rivalry: "It wasn't a big rival thing, they were just idiots. Not idiots because they've obviously sold some records (but) on what they were doing. Just to us we could never see what they were doing. To us we could never see what they were doing. Just, everything they've done...oooph, it's a weird thing. They would always, like, if somebody went up to them and said, 'You suck,' they'd be like, 'We suck and we know we suck. That's why we're doing it, Because we suck.' The would just take one lie and play off of that." Kracker used to rap with Eminem when they were in high school.
